The UCSD Men’s Club team visited SDSU for a preseason tournament this past weekend. Final cuts hadn’t been made yet, and due to missing players due to a fraternity event, the full strength of the team was not showcased. Players were split evenly into both teams. The A team finished 3rd in the Silver bracket, and the B team finished 1st in the Silver bracket after playing each other in the semi finals. On day 1 the A team faced GCU, UNLV, and UoA-B. We lost to GCU and UNLV, who both finished in the Hold bracket, but defeated UoA-B in three sets. The B team faced St. Catherine’s, Central Florida, and UCLA Alumni. They were able to take the game against St. Cat’s, but lost to the other two teams. On day 2 the teams battled it out in the semi finals, where the B team won in two. The B team then went on to face SDSU Alumni, beating them to take first in Silver. The tournament was a good showcase of our new talented freshmen, and we had a great time playing together for the first time.
