Tritons Come Up Short at Santa Barbara

Coming off a hard-fought win against USC on the road, UCSD drove to Santa Barbara on Sunday to square off against the Gauchos. The Match started quick as UCSB scored a quick goal within the first 10 minutes to start out the score. USCD did a great job of switching sides as they swung the ball side-to-side through their defense with great possession from Elyse Noda and Stephanie Pineda. Erika Nilsson has some very incredible saves, including a diving left glove save for a ball that was headed into the top right corner. Closer to the end of the half, Rohan Patel was able to steal the ball and insert a pass to Anna McQuarrie, who put away the ball in the goal and leveled things up at halftime. Coming into the second half, Samantha Brinton was able to dominate the ball and held majority of possession in UCSB’s half. With the game coming to a close and five minutes left, UCSB was able to score off a counter attack. The Tritons gave it all they had in the ending moments of the game, but they came up short with a 1–2 loss against UCSB.
