First Game of the Season
The ice hockey team kicked off the season on the road against Loyola Marymount University, who boasted a 4-0 record, at the Skating Edge Ice Arena in Torrence, Los Angeles. The game started off fast with LMU on offense taking numerous shots. The Tritons escaped the first period with a score of 0-0 thanks to a stellar performance from the team’s penalty kill and number one penalty killer starting goalie Nolan Karma. The second period came with more penalties for the Tritons, and power-play goals from LMU, which ended the second period at a score of 4-0. By the third period, the Tritons finally got on the board putting up four goals of their own closing the scoring gap to 6-4. After the Tritons pulled their goalie at an attempt to tie the game, LMU scored an empty net goal after numerous shot attempts by the Tritons.
