3/21-22/26 - Sailing in the San Francisco Bay for the Annual South Designates Regatta
Hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club, the regatta provided sailors with the opportunity to compete in iconic waters near the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, facing heavy winds throughout both Saturday and Sunday. While the sun made frequent appearances, the conditions remained true to Northern California’s characteristically brisk and chilly bay weather. Strong tidal currents added another layer of difficulty, as the constant movement of water in and out of the bay created complex racing conditions that required careful strategy and adaptability. Despite these challenges, the team embraced the experience and gained valuable time competing in a uniquely demanding environment.
On Saturday evening, the yacht club hosted a dinner for participants, offering a chance to relax and connect after a long day on the water. Although there were some logistical challenges related to the race course and rotation schedules, the event ultimately served as a meaningful and rewarding test of skill, resilience, and teamwork.
