2/7–2/8 – UCSD Berserk Coalition at Presidents Day Qualifiers
The UCSD Berserk Coalition competed at Presidents Day Qualifiers, marking the first tournament of the season for B-Co as a standalone squad.
B-Co opened the tournament against USC A. Although the game ended in a 9–2 result, every point was competitive and provided valuable experience against top-level talent. The next matchup came against UC Irvine A, a familiar and always challenging opponent. Irvine secured an 11–2 win, but the intensity and effort remained high throughout.
B-Co then faced their own C-Co squad in a spirited matchup featuring creative, lighthearted variations—dinosaur points (T-Rex or pterodactyl), hand-holding, upside-down throws, mandatory layouts, and more—alongside competitive stretches of play. The official result stood at 10–2.
In a tightly contested game against Occidental A, B-Co delivered their closest performance of the tournament. The 6–3 finish challenged the team to rely on fundamentals and trust in one another, reinforcing their growth and potential.
Competing in the consolation pool, B-Co matched up against UCLA B, a historically strong developmental program. Strong chemistry and steady execution led to a 12–3 victory. Momentum carried into the next game against UC Davis B, where disciplined defense and patient offense secured an 8–3 win.
The final matchup of the tournament came against USC B. With energy and confidence sustained throughout, B-Co closed the weekend with a decisive 10–1 victory, demonstrating continued development and cohesion.
As the first split tournament of the season, the event provided valuable opportunities to build chemistry and integrate new teammates into the Berserk Coalition system. The team looks forward to continued growth and competition in the months ahead.
C-Co also delivered a strong opening tournament performance, joined by B-Co players Matilda “Sosha” Gaddi, Jenny “Crow” Chen, Yvonne “I-Fell” Hsu, and Fiona “Bart” Zou.
C-Co began against UC Irvine A, showing early intensity and strong plays despite an injury that sidelined Matilda “Sosha” Gaddi. The game concluded 0–13. A subsequent matchup against USC A ended 0–15, with a continued focus on defensive execution and effort.
A spirited game against B-Co followed, featuring a playful first half with creative variations before returning to standard competitive play, ending 2–10.
C-Co continued competition against USC B, emphasizing strong marks to limit backhands and finishing 3–8. In a close contest with UC Davis B, disciplined defense and impressive downfield flow from rookies Aleisha “Mercury” Tripathy, Lujain “Paps” AlAlli, and Fiona “Bart” Zou contributed to a 3–5 result.
After a bye, C-Co concluded the tournament against UCLA B. Persistent effort and continued development defined the 1–10 finish, capping off a competitive and growth-focused tournament for the squad.
