2/15/26 - Club Gymnastics Wins at Western Regionals

The UCSD Club Gymnastics team had a successful weekend at NAIGC Western Regionals in Chandler, Arizona, the first official competition of the season!

Congratulations to Amy Fong, Ellery Date, Maia Harris, and Nohely Alvarez for competing for the first time! Their confidence, energy, and determination set the bar for the team.

The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics competitors came home with lots of medals! The Xcel Diamonds–Alina Teodorescu, Frances Scott, Kayla Phillips, Liliana Echevarria, Malia Lewton, Mia Roe, Victoria Paulo, and Maddie Chinke–really showed out to start the day! Frances and Liliana started the competition with clean lines and impressive skills, placing first and third on bars! Victoria showcased a beautiful routine and placed 3rd on floor. To finish off the session, women’s captain Malia placed second in both beam and the all around!

The Xcel Silver team included Ellery Date, Lauren Yerger, Morgan Ayan, Nohely Alvarez, and Nyla Janmohamed. Nohely placed on bars and beam, Morgan earned first place on beam and second all around, and Nyla placed third all around!

The Xcel Platinums were Amy Fong, Kaitlyn Fong, Kate Allison, Kristina Ma, Maia Harris, Roxanne Mayali, and Sydney Kundert. Kaitlyn, Roxanne, and Kristina took the podium with first, second, and third all around, respectively, and they also put up impressive individual finishes. Roxanne placed second on bars and third on vault and beam, Kaitlyn won first place on beam, and Kaitlyn and Kristina tied for first place on floor!

The small but mighty Level 9 team of Raina Eghbalyans and Audrey Huang truly outdid themselves! Winning beam, Audrey performed with beautiful artistry! Together, they tied for second place on bars, excited to be medaled together. Women’s captain Raina put together amazing performances, finishing off the competition with a HUGE 9.8 on floor! She also placed first in vault and in the all around!

The Men’s Artistic Gymnastics competitors were Ari Pasha, David Soto, Kaitlyn Fong, Kristina Ma, Malia Lewton, Kayla Phillips, Morgan Ayan, Mia Roe, Raina Eghbalyans, and Maddie Chinke. Ari and David swept the intermediate division–David stunned with a 12.000 on pommel horse, while men’s captain Ari won first place on floor, rings, high bar, and all around! In the beginner level, first place finishes included Kristina on pommel horse and Kayla on vault. Raina challenged herself to compete in the advanced division and won first on floor!

For primarily training artistic events, the team did well in Trampoline and Tumbling! Kaitlyn and Kristina placed first and second on beginner double mini, individual trampoline, and power tumbling. Along with the individual events, Kaitlyn and Ari medaled on intermediate synchronized trampoline and beginner synchro athletes Raina and Mia placed second while Malia and Morgan won first! Maddie placed first in intermediate tumbling, impressing everyone with her high layout and clean execution.

The team is proud of athletes’ hard work and looks forward to celebrating more successes at the UC Davis Winter Wonderland meet!
