    11/22-23/25 - Triton Invite 2025

The Tritons played at home this past weekend to total 4 games for each A and B teams.

On Saturday, UCSD A played the University of Washington first, pulling out a win in the end with Tania Frank and Shristi Bandyopadhyay contributing 10 of the team’s 12 goals. Their second game was against UC Santa Barbara, in which a strong fight was put up against the reigning national champions. In that game, Elizabeth Hernandez put up a whopping 5 goals, and goalie Brynna Moore recorded 8 blocks as major contributors. UCSD B won against the University of Washington’s B team 12–6, with Cam Bibeau scoring 7 of those goals to help secure the win. Their second game was against UC Santa Cruz, but they barely came up short after an intense match throughout. Kaylee Beaumont was a strong presence with 3 steals and one exclusion drawn, assisting the team in producing such a solid defensive battle.

On Sunday, the A team played the University of Michigan first, barely coming up short against the second-place team in the country. The standout player was Elizabeth Hernandez, scoring 5 of the team’s 9 goals and providing a major offensive threat. The last game of the weekend was against SDSU A, resulting in a 16–10 win. Nine different players scored against the league rivals, demonstrating the team’s diverse lineup. The B team played ASU first, where sprinter Isabella Worley won all four sprints, gaining four extra opportunities for the team to execute on offense. Their last game was against their rivals, SDSU B, in which a great game was played, extending into overtime, with the team winning through sudden death on a beautiful goal by Taylor Humphreys, ending the tournament with two wins overall.

Overall, it was a great tournament, especially with it being hosted at home and having 14 teams come out to play high-level water polo. The Tritons are looking forward to starting league play next year, wrapping up a strong 2025 full of great games for UCSD WCWP.
