11/15/25 - Bringing back the UCLA Exhibition Game!
Facing UCLA for the first time since 2021, the UCSD Ice Hockey Team faced the UCLA Bruins. Unlike the night before, the Tritons were missing some players, specifically five defensemen, which was a considerable loss in their game plan. Before the game even started, rookie Chris Feider (#13) and senior Alex Tatoian (#28) volunteered to play defense to fill in the gaps in the lineup. This kind of behavior is typical of the Triton bunch, which is always ready to step up for the team and sacrifice for one another. Unfortunately, before the Tritons could find their stride, the Bruins struck twice, both from the same UCLA player. Once this was noted, UCSD was able to stop the bleeding and cut UCLA off for the rest of the period.
In the second, more Bruin offense followed with two more unanswered goals, until, finally, UCSD netted one of their own from senior Sean Miller (#16), assisted by freshman Saku Sekiguchi (#20).
UCLA dominated most of the third period, unfortunately for our Tritons, with four more goals. Alex Tatoian (#28), assisted by Sean Miller (#16), scored the second and final goal from the Tritons, stemming from a successful power play and some tic-tac-toe passing.
Although the Tritons were unable to secure the win, they had a good time. And isn't that what matters most?
See your Tritons again next week, taking on the Panthers and then the SDSU Aztecs the first week of December for the final two games of the calendar year!
