Spend six days of yoga and adventure on the Big Island of Hawaii with master teacher Arturo Galvez.
Our home for the week will be the Kalani Retreat Center (www.kalani.com). Kalani is bordered by a lush tropical rainforest, the dramatic Hawaiian coastline and the majesty of the volcanoes. It is located in the southeast coast in the Puna district, 45 minutes from the airport at Hilo.
The week long program is designed to give you the ideal balance of yoga practice and play. Morning and late afternoon will spent in yoga and meditation sessions. The middle of the day is free and you’ll have plenty of time to explore the local beaches and the lush 20 acre grounds of the resort.
The base rate is $1150 per person. This includes 5 nights lodging at Kalani with shared room and shared bathrooom, use of the facility, all meals and yoga classes.

The program consists of yoga and meditation sessions in the morning and late afternoon, usually before breakfast and before dinner. Plan for 4 to 5 hours total per day of yoga and meditation.
The base fee of $1150 includes five nights lodging with shared room and shared bathroom. Airfare is not included.The program fee includes all yoga sessions, meals and use of resort facilities.
Shared lodging with private bathroom is available for an additional $125 ($1275 total).
Most meals are vegetarian and include organic, fresh local produce. Some fish may be included. Participants may request that lunches be packed for them giving them additional flexibility for excursions.
A rental car is desirable but not necessary. Participants have the option of organizing some car pooling/ sharing.
The nearest airport is Hilo. Pick up from the airport can be arranged with the resort; $45/person shared, $60 single. For those desiring to fly in to Kona, plan a minimum of two hours driving time to get to Kalani. Shuttle to/from Kona is not available through Kalani Retreat Center.
The program will start with dinner on Monday, 9/10, followed by an orientation to the area and the resort. Plan to be at Kalani by 5 pm.
The program ends with breakfast on 9/15.
An optional trip to Volcanoes National Park may be organized. The entrance fee is $10/car. Participants may arrange Kalani Resort to provide transporation.
Some of the activities possible within a half hour drive time include:
Hiking (2 state parks)
Hiking lava fields
Swimming in a naturally heated lava pond (county park)
Please note that the cancellation policy for this trip is different from other Outback Adventures trips due to money that has to be paid in advance to the Kalani Retreat Center.
