Welcome to the Outback Climbing Center

In early 1995, we had the great idea to convert two racquet ball courts into a climbing wall. Now, the Outback Climbing Center is UC San Diego’s hub for the climbing community and one of the greater San Diego area’s most affordable climbing gyms.

Indoor climbing is a low-risk, high-adrenaline sport offering:

An interesting and diverse work-out
Intense concentration and focus
Intellectual and physical problem solving
Education and practice in rope handling techniques and knots
Varying degrees of challenge

Rapport-building with friends and colleagues

The Outback Climbing Center is a professionally designed and built complex well equipped for both the first-timer and the seasoned professional. Our staff is friendly and accessible to you for belaying, instruction, coaching and advice.

You will need to sign our Liability Waiver (the back side of the document will be handled by our staff upon arrival) in order to climb; please be sure to have a parent or guardian sign this form for anyone under the age of 18.
