UCSD Masters Triathlon Program's
BEGINNING TRIATHLON CLINIC!

Here comes 2015...and with it an opportunity to set some new fitness goals. If you've ever wanted to give a triathlon a try, then our Beginning Triathlon Clinic (BTC) will help you prepare for it the right way. Trust in the best triathlon coaches gathered in one program, here with the UCSD Triathlon Program.
Head Triathlon Coach Terry Martin has completed 9 Hawaii Ironman Triathlons and over 200 (yes!!!) other triathlons around the world. You will get great techical expertise on all three sports, and have fun training and competiting in your first triathlon.
In addition to getting in some great workouts and people to train with, Terry will also write up a 12 week training program, that will keep you on track for the end of the quarter Terry's 4-4-2 triathlon that she will host for the participants.
Terry's 4-4-2 triathlon is a 400 yard swim in the pool, a 4 mile bike ride on campus and a 2 mile run to the track from the pool. Along for the race will be members of the UCSD Student Tri team and other UCSD Masters triathletes, making it a truly fun fitness event for everyone!

ON GOING QUARTERLY TRACK WORKOUT SCHEDULE:
6:00-7:30am Tue & Thursday with Terry Martin
5:45-7:15pm Tuesday with James Sheremeta
5:45-7:15pm Thursday with Tom Piszkin
TURBO WORKOUTS: 6:00-7:30am (Tues on the track & Fridays on the patio).
* All run workouts meet on the south end of the track!!
TUESDAY 12/16: MS: VO2 intervals - 4x400 - 2x800 - 1mile - 2x800 - 4x400 (rest = :60 for 400's, :90 for 800's & 2min for mile).
THURSDAY 12/18: CAMPUS LOOP TIME TRIAL!!!15min warm up & 8 x 100m strides then Campus Loop Time Time Trail. Make sure to wear your heart rate monitor.
Friday 12/19: WU: 10min easy spin then 5x60sec ILT's each leg followed by 5x90sec spin ups to 100+rpms w/ 30sec easy after each. MS: pyramid of 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 minute in LCR "big gear low rpms" w/ 1min easy between. Then repeat 5x90sec spin ups/ 30 sec easy. 20min t-run or cool down spin.
ALSO FRIDAY STARTING AT 2:00 IS THE NED NOSE RUN - START ON THE BEACH BEHIND THE POSEIDON IN DEL MAR. REGISTRATION AT 1:00PM.
Triathletes should be able to run, bike and swim with some proficiency. We meet at the track for all the run and bike workouts and the Canyonview pool for swim workouts. A limited number of turbo trainers are available for the turbo workouts. If you have your own turbo trainer, please bring it with you so you can learn to train on your own equipment. Oh, yeh...bring your bike with you!
(All Friday turbo workouts will be at the Spanos Training Facility - North Patio - just above the track. Tuesdays will be on the track.)
Registration for new participants will be at RIMAC or the front desk at the Canyonview Aquatics Center.! Renewals can also be paid at the Canyonview Pool Front Desk.

**Triathletes may attend any swimming, running and turbo workouts!!
All of our athletes must be affiliated with a National organization for liability purposes. Please register online or download the forms and mail 'em in. Carry your form with you (good if you travel).
