UCSD Masters Triathlon Program's
BEGINNING TRIATHLON CLINIC - SPRING QUARTER!
The BTC is you path to a successful first triathlon. If you've made it a fitness goal in 2015 to "try a tri", then this is the clinic for you!
Spring into fitness and and learn everything you’ll need to succeed in your first triathlon! You will also receive an 8 week triathlon training program from our Head Triathlon Coach, Terry Martin. Terry has completed the Hawaii Ironman 9 times and competed in over 200 triathlons total! Terry will give you various options to fit the workouts in to your busy schedule. In addition to the weekly workouts there will be a hands-on bike clinic. We’ll even throw in your first triathlon* at the end of the clinic, right here on campus!

*Terry's 4-4-2 triathlon is a 400 yard swim in the pool, a 4 mile bike ride on campus and a 2 mile run to the track from the pool. Along for the race will be members of the UCSD Student Tri team and other UCSD Masters triathletes, making it a truly fun fitness event for everyone!

ON GOING QUARTERLY TRACK WORKOUT SCHEDULE:
6:00-7:30am Tue & Thursday with Terry Martin
5:45-7:15pm Tuesday with James Sheremeta
5:45-7:15pm Thursday with Tom Piszkin
TURBO WORKOUTS: 6:00-7:30am (Tues on the track & Fridays on the patio).
* All run workouts meet on the south end of the track!!
AM RUN Workouts.......
TUESDAY 4/21 -
Warm up routine then main set - 4 sets of 4x400 descending within each group - 1min rest btwn each 400 & 1 lap btwn sets.
THURSDAY 4/23 -
Warm up routine then - 10min build to threshold - 5 x 3min "pickups" w/ 2min "easy" btwn - 10min steady at threshold - 10min cool down.
FRIDAY 4/24 - TURBO WORKOUT
WU: 10min easy spin then 6 x 60sec (30 rt leg/ 30 lft leg) - 3 x 3min spin faster each min (100-110-120) with 1min easy btwn.
MS: 3 x 10 min bike set broken into: (2min SCR fast spin @ 100+, 3min LCR @ 90rpms in aero position, 3min LCR build up hill, then 2 min SCR spin @ 85-95 rpms). **RUN: 1200 cutdowns off each 10min block.
Then: 10min easy cooldown spin or jog.
Triathletes should be able to run, bike and swim with some proficiency. We meet at the track for all the run and bike workouts and the Canyonview pool for swim workouts. A limited number of turbo trainers are available for the turbo workouts. If you have your own turbo trainer, please bring it with you so you can learn to train on your own equipment. Oh, yeh...bring your bike with you!
(All Friday turbo workouts will be at the Spanos Training Facility - North Patio - just above the track. Tuesdays will be on the track.)
Registration for new participants will be at RIMAC or the front desk at the Canyonview Aquatics Center.! Renewals can also be paid at the Canyonview Pool Front Desk.
Daily- $10.00 Quarterly- $165.00 (includes facility use card)
*If you already have a REC CARD:Program Fee-$105.00
Daily- $4.00 / Quarterly- $55.00
**Triathletes may attend any swimming, running and turbo workouts!!
All of our athletes must be affiliated with a National organization for liability purposes. Please register online or download the forms and mail 'em in. Carry your form with you (good if you travel).
